9-5 Bulletin

Today’s altar flowers are given in loving remembrance of Grace and C. J. Fischer by Connie Long, Pat and Rob Caldwell and family, and Sandy and Bob Redman and family.

The flowers on the stairwell last Sunday were from the funeral of Cora M. Masters, mother of Violet Shealy, and given in Cora’s memory by Wilbert and Marilyn Peterman.

Today’s worship bulletins are given by Ed and Ilene Light “to the glory of God and His blessings.  May He protect this great country and the men and women who protect her.”

The communion wine is given by Jeannette Naufzinger in honor of her two new great-grandchildren born this summer, Matthew Saxton and Seth Parker.

We thank Bonnie Ley for baking today’s communion bread.

Pantry Sunday is today!  On the first Sunday of each month, you are invited to bring a boxed or canned food item, or paper product, and put it in the container in the hall.  These items are given to the local Salvation Army for distribution.

A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, September 19 at 11:15 a.m. after the shortened 10:30 a.m. worship service to discuss and vote on the following items:

    * purchasing a grand piano for the sanctuary

    * becoming involved in “Transformation Ministry”

The Congregation Council asks for your attendance to this meeting as your participation is respectfully valued.  Those of you attending the 8:00 and 9:15 services, please come back for the meeting. Please include the decision-making for this congregational meeting in your prayers as well as Christ’s ministry here at Good Hope.

Good Hope’s Outreach Committee is sponsoring a SOAP drive during September!  You are invited to bring a new bar of soap to be given to Lutheran World Relief.  Soap may be left at the church office. Thank you!

Seventh and eighth grade confirmation classes will be held on Sunday afternoons beginning next Sunday, September 12, from 3:00-5:00 p.m.  An adult class, taught by Kathy Wells, will be held each Sunday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. with lessons and topics to correspond with the confirmation classes.  This will enable parents and students to discuss at home each week’s lesson.

THANK YOU for your continued financial support.  You should soon receive in the mail your 4th quarter (Oct-Dec 2010) offering envelope booklet.  Please remember to notify the church office of any address changes  as soon as they are known.
