March is
Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a reminder that individuals
with disabilities are “Just like
You”. It is often
attitudinal barriers that affect everyday life for people with
developmental disabilities.
In addressing those barriers through positive awareness efforts, fears
and negative attitudes can be replaced with knowledge and understanding.
The area Lutheran Church ministries serving persons with
developmental disabilities are the Luther Home of Mercy in Williston,
Ohio and the Filling Homes in Napoleon, Ohio.
Today’s
altar flowers are given to
the glory of God by Jim and Jeanne Thompson in honor of Jeanne’s
parents, Walter and Alice Schimpf and their birthdays.
The
red rose on the altar is
given in loving remembrance of Don Palenshus by his mother, Millie.
The
worship bulletins are given
to the glory of God by Harold and Peggy Miller in honor of their
granddaughter, Katie Volk, and her 19th birthday on March 17.
